Ashley Pitts, AIA, NCARB, CASp is a Registered Architect and Senior Accessibility Consultant with experience consulting on a variety of project types including commercial, corporate, hospitality, entertainment, institutional, higher education, government, mixed-use and multi-family residential. As an accessibility consultant, Ms. Pitts evaluates new construction, alterations and existing facilities against applicable federal accessibility regulations such as Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the 2010 ADA Standards, Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) and the ABA Standards, and Fair Housing Act (FHA); model building codes such as International Building Code (IBC), Chapter 11; state-specific accessibility codes such as those in California, Texas, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Florida; and state and locally adopted technical standards such as ICC A117.1. She specializes in design peer reviews for new construction and alterations, assessments of accessibility conditions at existing facilities, and consulting for a range of occupancy types to assist owners, designers and contractors to comply with the accessibility regulations applicable to their projects. Ms. Pitts has over 20 years of experience in the design and construction industry, serving as architect, consultant, or advisor for owners, operators, facility managers, and other entities looking to design, construct, and maintain code-compliant facilities. Her experience assessing existing or in-construction projects in the field coupled with in-office time spent programming and designing sites and facilities provides the practical and in-depth understanding needed to help clients achieve accessible design and construction. She also is a Certified Accessibility Specialist, a designation which represents tested, detailed knowledge of the scoping and criteria in the 2010 ADA Standards as well as more stringent criteria in Chapters 11A and 11B of California Building Code.
